Needs for 2012
In this fourth year of the Round Hill Community Garden, we continue to need the support of community partners. Thank you for taking a look at our needs, and we look forward to hearing from you. Questions, responses to info@roundhillgarden.org or phone 540 338-8980.
Financial Donations:
We have a goal of raising an additional $1000 dollars to cover this coming season's operational costs and improvements to our infrastructure. Your financial gift , made out to "Town of Round Hill" and referencing "Community Garden" in the memo section can be sent to our mailbox at Town of Round Hill, PO Box 629, Round Hill VA 20142. Contributions this year will be focused towards fencing improvements at the garden and park landscaping. Contributions will be acknowledged on our website and in newspaper publicity.
Landscaping:
The Round Hill Community Garden Park design includes tree plantings at strategic places. We welcome any donations of native deciduous, evergreen or fruit/nut trees or tree seedlings, and/or donation of time and materials to plant them. Contact the Town of Round Hill with your suggestions/donations.
Decoration of the RHCGP with ornamental shrubs and annual flowers was initiated last year by local girl scouts with materials at a discount from Abernathy and Spencer. We welcome participation from community garden supply shops, local landscaping firms and civic organizations to adorn the Park this coming year.

- ornamental shrubs
- annual flowers
- labor to properly plant donated landscaping
Mulch and Fertilizer:
The soil in the garden requires yearly amendment in order to be productive. We welcome donations of
- leaf mulch
- composted manure and
- straw bales
Garden prep labor:
While we have already amended the soil for 2012 (in the Fall), we would welcome a team of volunteers to supplement our gardeners for re-opening the garden. Let us know if you could spend some time in March/April to help prepare the beds, repair fencing, etc. We may be soliciting manure donations again in November of 2012. We are an official signer of HS student's volunteer hours vouchers!
- lend us your pickup truck
- donate a couple of hours; bring your shovel & wheelbarrow
EARTH Team volunteers:
You might be surprised at the many roles and tasks required to run a Community Garden. Participation involves joining our electronic mailing list, and (optional) meetings averaging 1 every 2 months. We are especially in need of a few good volunteers to help with:
